Lately I am being reminded that in order to live the life of our dreams, to go after what we want, it requires a strong sense of self. To go after what we want, we need a solid foundation that includes feeling loved, cared for -- worthy.
What do I mean by this? Well, as I shared in my book Reclaiming JOY, my decision to take a sabbatical happened only after I worked through feelings of guilt around being worthy. Who was I to take a year off? What would people think? What if I took the time off and had "nothing" to show for it?
My heart knew I not only wanted the time off -- I needed the time off. By allowing myself to take time off, I validated for myself, and quite frankly to those around me, that I was deserving. I was deserving without having to justify or have a reason other than I simply wanted to. What a lesson and truly a doorway into a new way of being.
Let me ask you this? What is it that you want? Are you willing to go for it? If not, how do feelings of being worthy play into it?
